when should i book my session

As soon as possible. I am a wife, mom and a part-time photographer. Since my first priority is to my husband and kids, I only take a limited number of sessions per month, so it's best to book now to ensure that you get a slot.

For newborns, please schedule during your pregnancy. It breaks my heart to turn away newborns when my schedule is already full. You will be tentatively booked for your due date to secure a slot, and once your little one arrives and you contact me, we will schedule the actual date and time of your session within two weeks of birth.

what is included with my session fee

The session fee covers the length of the session itself, the photographer's time, talent and resources, in addition to the many hours spent behind the scenes for prep, editing and retouching the images.

Included with every session (with the exception of Mini Sessions) is a USB of high-resolution, fully edited and retouched images with printing rights.

Clients also receive a personal online gallery to share with family and friends.

outside sessions
where do sessions take place

I love nature and natural light, so my preference is always for an outdoor location. Spaces usually afford for greater creativity, variety and movement, and the ideal natural light (often later in the day) is soft and flattering for portraits. If you have a particular place in mind or a location that is personal to you, I would love to meet you there. If you don't have anything in mind then I can determine a location for your session.

In the winter months I do child and newborn sessions out of my home in the afternoon with backdrops and a few props. I no longer photograph families of more than 3 indoors (with the exception of a few family shots as an addition to a newborn session if that is desired). I do not have adequate space to do the images justice and they often require considerably more editing to extend backdrops, etc.

Please reschedule if someone is not feeling him/herself, if at all possible. My desire is to capture personalities, and that is very hard to do when one does not feel well, especially kids.

If you have a newborn session scheduled, and I become ill, I will call to reschedule. I would not want to expose your newborn baby to germs.

If you have scheduled an outdoor session and the weather is not conducive for photos, I may request that your session be rescheduled. This will be at my discretion.

For family photos I recommend wearing something that you are comfortable in and suits your personalities. Clothing and accessories should convey your personality and style preferences. With that in mind, coordinating colors is a great way to start. Pick a few colors that you enjoy wearing or colors that reflect your home decor. Layers are a wonderful way to add a few different colors and textures. Then add some pops of color and bring all the outfits together.

  • Simple and classic clothes will help give timeless images.
  • Characters, sayings on shirts and multiple patterns can be distracting.
  • Clothing that stands out from the background helps draw the focus to you.
  • Don't forget about the shoes - they will be in photos too!

how long can i expect

This depends a lot on the season your session takes place and what sort of session you had. The winter months are quieter, and so I will be able to get them back to you quicker than summer or fall. I will try to give you a tentative date at the time of your session based on my current schedule and workload.

Saying that, generally you will see sneak peeks (if desired) within 2 weeks. Your online gallery link will be electronically delivered to you within 3-4 weeks from session date (5-6 weeks for weddings), and in the next day or so after that, your USB should be ready for pick-up.

I edit all sneak peeks in order of date captured and all final images in the same order which means you may see someone else's sneaks online before your final images have been delivered. This is so that everyone can have the opportunity to see a few of their images within the first couple of weeks of their session. Be assured that your images are still being worked on quietly behind the scenes and you will receive them before those from the sessions after you!
